Heat Transfer Kits – Explaining the Differences

With so many kits on offer we have put together this guide which outlines the differences between kits.

1 Room Heat Transfer Kit (small duct run 6m or under)

This small 1-1 room kit is suitable for 1-1 room installation which requires 6m of ducting or less. The reason being the fan included in this kit is a basic axial motor. It is not the most suitable when dealing with long duct runs with bends/twists etc. For this reason we would not recommend adding extra ducting to this kit, instead it would be advisable to upgrade to one of our larger kits. Similarly if your heat transfer kit requires installation with twists and bends you may also look to upgrade to the larger kit. To get the most from this kit it is important that the duct run is as short, straight and tight as possible. To give you a rough idea of performance relative to duct length view the below table:

1 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Mixed Flow Fan (long ducting)

Similarly to the above this kit is designed to service 1-1 room; however it is provided with a more suitable fan to cope with a longer duct run (12m of ducting). This mixflow will do a better job of retaining its capacity over a duct run. To give you a rough idea of performance relative to duct length view the below table:

1 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Quiet Mixed Flow Fan (long ducting)

This is our premium offering for the simple reason that it is a very quiet fan! It has been specifically engineered to operate quietly, the casing is larger and has inbuilt insulation. In terms of performance the fan will provide the same characteristics as the TT Mixflow fan.

The big difference with this fan is in the dB(a) rating. Whilst the capacity of the motor is the same, the noise is different:

TT Mixflow 150: 44db(A) (33 on low speed setting)
TT Silent 150: 33db(A) (26 on lower speed)

If noise is a primary concern then the Premium silent fan may be suitable for you.

2 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Mixed Flow Fan

This kit is the same as the 1-1 room long kit, however it just comes with a few extra components so that you can go 1-2 rooms (Y Junction and extra cone vent). This is our basic offering and the kit comes with the TT Mixflow 150 fan, which as the above table illustrates is more than capable of performing with this amount of ducting.

2 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Quiet Mixed Flow Fan

This is our Premium offering, once again the only difference is that this kit comes with a TT silent as opposed to a TT Mixflow 150. See the above 1-1 room kit for the noise comparison between the two models.

3 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Centrifugal Plastic Inline Fan

This 1-3 room kit comes with a plastic centrifugal inline fan. A centrifugal fan is supplied with this kit because this stye of motor is best equipped to retain its capacity over not only long duct runs, but also duct setups that have more bends and Y junctions in place. This is our entry level 3 room kit.

The Centrifugal motors also have the added benefit that they can be speed controlled via a dimmer style switch. For this reason they are a popular choice for customers who would like to have more control of the speed.

3 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Metal Centrifugal Inline Fan

This 1-3 kit is the same as above, however the fan supplied is a metal VKM centrifugal fan. This fan has a slightly higher capacity vs the plastic model (555 m3/hr vs 460 m3/hr). To give you a rough idea of performance relative to duct length view the below table:

3 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Quiet Mixflow Inline Fan

This kit is our Premium 1-3 room offering. The kit features the TT Silent inline fan in a large 200mm size. Despite the size of the motor this fan operates relatively quietly, below is a comparison of a TT Silent 200 fan vs a TT mixflow 200:

TT Silent 200: Only 36db(A) (31 on lower speed)
TT Mixflow 200: 52db(A) (45 on lower speed)

4 Room Heat Transfer Kit: Centrifugal Plastic Inline Fan

This 4 room heat transfer kit comes with a 200mm plastic centrifugal inline fan. This is our entry level 4 room heat transfer kit,
the fan included in this kit has a capacity of 930 m3/hr. All 4 room heat transfer kits are supplied to have a 200mm diameter intake vent, with the rest of the system being reduced to a 150mm diameter.

This 4 room kit is our premium centrifugal offering, which includes a metal centrifugal fan. This fan has a slightly higher capacity vs the plastic model (1100 m3/hr vs 930 m3/hr). To give you a rough idea of performance relative to duct length view the below table:
